Scripture reading
And the peace of God transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
–Philippians 4:7
Thought of the Day
On our recent trip to Mexico our college gang and I experienced a most amazing worship service. After wonderful music and some words from the pastor, our group was invited up to the front of the church. After some more nice words, the entire congregation came forward to greet us and to thank us for being there. After many handshakes and more hugs we were then asked to kneel for a prayer time. As we kneeled, several of the members there, came to us and laid their hands on us and prayed for us. It was most special. They prayed in Spanish and even though most of us did not understand the words, we did understand and feel God’s presence all around us. We understood the warmth and love from their hands. We understood our connection with Christ and each other.
You know, there are some things in this world that I don’t understand. Maybe instead of letting those things dog me, I ought to remember that I do understand that God loves me and is ever present in my life. Maybe I ought to remember that the peace of God transcends all understanding.
Prayer
God, I understand I need to focus on You. Amen.
