Scripture reading
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
–Psalm 119:105
Thought of the Day
As you can probably tell, I am an avid reader. I have many bookcases at my home and office filled with books. I love to go to used book stores to find new used books. (Or would that be used new books?) I do get a little sad though when I see all the books out there and think about all the people who poured themselves into those books that now cost less than a dollar. Some of them are not even worth that small amount. I have several books that fall into that category. One of them is a book called, “The 2,548 Best Things Anybody Ever Said”. Here are a few of the gems listed:
Abraham Lincoln once said, “If I were two faced, would I be wearing this one?”
Steven Wright said, “I used to work in a fire hydrant factory. You couldn’t park any where close to the place.”
Lee Trevino quipped, “If you are caught on a golf course during a storm and are afraid of lightening, hold up a 1 iron. Not even God can hit a 1 iron”.
Be thankful that I am not going to list the other 2,545 best things said. For the record, my definition of best must be different than the guy who compiled this book. The next time I am looking for the best things ever said, I think I will check out the Bible. Those words will better light my path.
Prayer
Lord, Let Your words change me! Amen.
