Scripture reading
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
–Philippians 1:3-6
Thought of the Day
I few years ago, I got home early from work and turned on the TV. I watched Jeopardy and was really on fire. I mean, if Alex had said my name, I would have answered, “Who was really on fire that day”. Anyway, after Jeopardy, Oprah came on. I decided to come to grips with my feminine side and watch her show. Of course I might have just been too lazy to get up and get the remote from across the room. Either way, it doesn’t matter; Oprah had a great show on that day. She had a lady on who had written a book about how to have a better life. One chapter of her book talked about how we needed to be more thankful for the things in our life. This author suggested that each night before we go to bed, that we make a list of five things that we were most thankful for that day. The list could include people, events that had happened, or whatever came to mind. It is a pretty good thing to do. I don’t do it all the time, but on this Thanksgiving Day, 2005, I decided to make a list and share a bit of it with you. These are not in any particular order.
I am thankful for …
My family.
The people I work with and the youth in our church.
The connection I have with each of you who receive these thoughts.
I am blessed in so many ways. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving Day.
Prayer
Lord, Thank you for creating this place and putting friends in our lives. Amen.
