Serving

Scripture reading

Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.

–Ephesians 6:7

Thought of the Day

You know that it would be impossible for me to let Martin Luther King, Jr. Day come and go without reminding you of something that he said that everyone should hear and take heart. This is it:

“Everyone can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s theory of relativity to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

I wish I had said that. I also hope that I never forget these words.

Prayer

Lord, I want to serve you with all of my heart. Amen.
