Scripture Reminders

Scripture Reading

Your word is a lamp for my feet a light on my path.

Psalm 119:105

Thought of the Day

Well, another week has gone by which to me seemed like a month. I hope you are staying safe and sound and are finding some interesting things to do to keep yourself in a good state of mind. When we get on the other side of this crazy time, most of our “to do” items around our house will be done. I am afraid I might get fat and lazy. (Which should bring a smile to your face if you know me. I am calorie challenged you might say.)

A while back, way before cell phones, a lot of us had to depend on our watches with alarms to remind us of things. In our never-ending effort to connect with our youth, we came up with the idea of getting them to set the alarm on their watches at a time that corresponded with a scripture in the Bible. The goal was that when their alarm went off, they would think about the scripture. For instance, if their alarm went off at 3:16, then of course, the words from John would come to mind. For God so loved the world. It was cool and our youth would share how they would be sitting in class and all of a sudden, several alarms would go off.

So since we are working to find different ways now to reach out to youth, we decided to start doing the same with phone alarms. Each week since we have been at home, we have lifted up different scriptures that correspond with times. My whole extended family has also been doing it, so I have a lot of alarms going off during the day. Here are a few alarms that go off during my day.

Psalm 9:9
The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

I would you to encourage you to do it if you can. If you have an iPhone, there is a cool thing you can do. When you set your alarm, be sure to have it go off every day, and under the label part, you can cut and paste the first line of the scripture there. So, when your alarm goes off, the scripture will come up on your screen.

It is at times like this that we need to remind ourselves of God’s Word in every which way we can. Good luck and be safe.

Prayer

Lord, Your word is a lamp unto my feet. Thanks for Your amazing light. Amen.
