Scripture reading
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
–Philippians 3:20
Thought of the Day
My wife is a kindergarten teacher and has a daily calendar/memo pad that the district gave to all the teachers. Each day shows the date and also reveals some little known facts. The one for October 16, 2000 was somewhat interesting. It first alerted the reader that it was National School Bus Safety Week. I am all for school bus safety but it did occur to me that once the week was over, that bus drivers might unconsciously not be as careful as they were during National School Bus Safety Week. No one wants to have a wreck when the whole nation is watching. Maybe it needs to be like when I was little and after Mother’s Day and Father’s Day when I would ask my parents when Children’s Day was and they would tell me that every day is Children’s Day. Maybe every week needs to be National School Bus Safety Week. The other fact for this day was that the average person spends two weeks of his or her lifetime waiting for traffic lights to change. Two weeks? That is a long time to wait. Kind of boring to wait through lights, I guess. It is a good thing it is never boring to wait for our Savior, Jesus the Christ.
Prayer
God, I eagerly await You. Amen.
