Safe Harbor

Scripture reading

For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into His kingdom and glory.
–1 Thessalonians 2:11-12

Thought of the Day

A guy named William Shedd said a pretty cool thing. I read it just the other day. This is what he said, “A ship in safe harbor is safe, but that is not what a ship is built for”. I love this quote. I don’t know if Mr. Shedd is a ship builder or a ship’s captain. I imagine that he is neither. It wouldn’t surprise me if when he said this, he had our scripture for today in mind. You see, Paul knew what we are “built” to do in this world. He knew what we are called to do. So how about it? Are you living a life worthy of God?

Father, we are your children. Let us hear your call. Amen.
