Scripture reading
Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
–Colossians 3:1
Thought of the Day
Have you ever been able to read someone’s mind? For some of us it probably doesn’t take very long for someone to read our mind. Scientists have just come out with the theory that essentially we are all mind readers. It has a lot to do with mirror neurons. (As opposed I guess to newer morons.) Anyway, a few years ago, some neuroscientists came up with this theory of mirror neurons that suggest that often we pretend to be in another person’s mental shoes. (It does make me smile that a well-educated neuroscientist came up with the term “mental shoes”.)
Anyway, I don’t know much about mirror neurons or even mental shoes and I am not sure that I can read other peoples minds, but I do know that sometimes hearts are easier to read. It is usually easier to “read” someone when you can see where his or her heart is. Let’s do what our scripture for today tells us to do. Let’s set our hearts on things above. Let’s let others read our hearts.
Prayer
Lord above, Help me to focus and set my eyes and my heart on You. Amen.
