Priorities

Scripture reading

The Lord says, “I will make you wise and show you where to go. I will guide you and watch over you.”

–Psalm 32:8

Thought of the Day

Have you ever taken the time to write down your priorities? It would not be hard for me to make such a list. I recently read about a speaker who was talking to a group about priorities. He challenged them to write down the five most important things in their lives on five note cards. To fine-tune that list of five, the speaker then had the group burn a card one by one until there was only one left. That last one was the thing that was most important to each person at that point in his or her life.
Pretty interesting experiment. Let’s try it. Now I don’t want you to play with fire, but why don’t you begin by listing your priorities. Go ahead and figure out which one is the most important but don’t burn the others so you can keep them in front of you, too. Make sure that the one you have left is what you want to be your top priority. Maybe if you did this process every day, your top one might change. Maybe it ought to change. Let me suggest something. How about making sure you are letting the Lord make you wise and show you where to go every day of your life? Pretty good priority, I think.

Prayer

Lord, I want you to be number one in my life. Amen.
