Prayer

 October 17, 2007

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.

Psalm 37:4-5

Thought of the Day

I have a pretty good book with an interesting title.  It is called WAY TO LIVE: Christian Practices for Teenagers.  It is filled with resources on many of the issues that face teenagers.  Of course as I look over the list, we adults deal with most, if not all of them.  Well almost all of them.  Luckily I do not have to worry anymore about my face breaking out before my big homecoming dance.

There is a great prayer that in the section about how teenagers balance their work with their faith.  Try it, it might be your prayer today.

Gracious and Loving God, I give you thanks this day

for the gift of my present work.

I hold in prayer those who are jobless and those who

have yet to discover their work.

I hold in prayer the young people throughout the world

and in my own community who must have a job to help their families and who, therefore, cannot continue in their studies.

Have mercy on me for the times I have failed to love.

I praise you for giving me the opportunity to share in the

work of re-creating this world.

My prayer is that my work makes the world

a little more just,

a little more peaceful, and

a little more hospitable for everyone.  Amen.
