Scripture reading
Be joyful always; pray continually.
–1 Thessalonians 5:16
Thought of the Day
Prayer is an amazing thing. Yesterday something cool happened. One of our youth, Walker was having major surgery for scoliosis. A lot of prayers had been said for him and his family and for his doctors before the surgery. When the surgery was over the doctors came out to talk to Walker’s parents about things. It was a great moment. They were very positive about how things went and the fact that it had gone faster than they had first thought. They showed before and after x-rays. Walker must be a scholar and a lover of language and specifically punctuation. His back went from looking like a question mark to being a definite exclamation mark!
As the doctors were leaving, someone told them that a whole lot of prayers had been said for Walker and for them. One of the doctors smiled and said that his job was so much easier when prayer was involved. It was a great statement of faith. Prayer does matter! It doesn’t always change things, but it does change you. Think about who you need to pray for today and do it.
Prayer
Father God, You hear our prayers. Amen.
