Prayer

Scripture reading

As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and He shall hear my voice.

–Psalm 55:16-17

Thought of the Day

How is your prayer life? Mine can always use a little help. I have a little book called “A Guide to Prayer”. It is filled with scripture readings and writings of theologians about how to best prepare us to be in concert with God. Today I read some great words from Martin Luther about prayer. He suggested that prayer should be “the first business of the morning and the last at night.” He wrote, “Cultivate the habit of falling asleep with the Lord’s Prayer on your lips every evening when you go to bed and again every morning when you get up. And if occasion, place, and time permit, pray before you do anything else.”
I wonder if Mr. Luther’s plan makes for a peaceful night’s sleep. I bet it does. I think I will try it. Why don’t you?

Prayer

Lord, I cry for You and I know You hear my voice. Amen.
