Scripture reading
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.
–Romans 10:17
Thought of the Day
Have you ever heard of the German word, Ohrwurm? It translates to “earworm” or “earwig”. Still need some help in figuring out what it is? Have you ever had the experience of having the same song playing over and over seemingly lodged in your mind? If so, you have experienced, Ohrwurm. There was a man written about in People magazine who heard the same six fiddle notes for thirty- one years. When he finally told his wife, she wept with joy because she thought that he just wasn’t interested in listening to her all that time. A couple of years ago, a man had surgery of his right lateral temporal cortex to stop the song “Owner of a Lonely Heart” by Yes from playing over and over in his mind. (What was that guy thinking? I love that song.)
I guess the problem with Ohrwurm is that you can’t choose which song it is that you hear. The Good News is that you can choose to hear the message, and the message is heard through the word of God.
Prayer
Father, Open my ears to Your word. Amen.
