Mt. Everest

Scripture reading

God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them.
–Hebrews 6:10

Thought of the Day

Have you heard of Eric Weihenmeyer? I was watching WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE the other night and one of the contestants wished that he had heard of him. You see, he missed the $250,000 question because he didn’t know who Eric Weihenmeyer is. (If you do know, sorry, you don’t win any money) Eric Weihenmeyer recently climbed Mt. Everest. That is pretty special as it is, but in his case it is more amazing, because Eric is blind. I have read several books on the climbing of Everest and I can’t even begin to imagine how Eric did it. There are some places where every step is crucial, especially where they are crossing some of the big ice crevices over roped together ladders. Some how, someway, he did it. Obviously he had a lot of support and help. I love something that he said in an interview once he got back home. He said, “When I got to the summit, I was standing on the shoulders of so many”.
That is the way it is with faith, you know. Think about those who led and taught you and helped you make it over the years. Now think about those who you have led or will lead. That is what we are called to do as people of faith. Don’t forget, God will not forget our work.

Prayer

Father, Thank you for brothers and sisters in Christ. Amen.
