Mother’s Translation

Scripture reading

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it.
–Proverbs 22:6

Thought of the Day

There is an old story about four pastors discussing the merits of the different translations of the Bible. One of them loved the King James Version because of its simple old English. Another liked the New International Version because of its clarity and widespread acceptance. The third one was hooked on the Living Bible because of its use of contemporary language. The fourth minister waited for the others to speak and then he said that he liked his mother’s translation the very best. The three other pastors were surprised. They didn’t know his mother had translated the Bible. He replied, “Oh, yes, she translated it into life, and it was most convincing.”
His mother understood these words from Proverbs.

Lord of All, Help me to understand and live Your Word. Amen.
