Memory

Scripture reading

Now to Him, who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

–Ephesians 3:20

Thought of the Day

Have you heard of David Thomas? Do you remember who he is? If not, he is the “memory guy”. He wrote the book, “Improve your Memory”. I went to the bookstore the other day to buy it but could not remember the name of it when I got there. David has an unbelievable ability to remember things. He holds the world record for remembering the most extension numbers for pi. You know, the math thingy. (I can’t remember the official term. I am pretty sure it is not thingy.) You won’t believe how far David can recite the places of pi. It starts out 3.1416… and so on. I know four numbers after the three. David has me beat a bit. He knows 22,500 numbers. How in the world can someone remember that many numbers? Why in the world does someone want to remember that many numbers? I think David needs something else to keep his mind busy. I’ll give you a tip on how he does it. He says that he uses his imagination and does word associations with each number. The number one might be a tree, two a door, and three a flower. I might submit that I can understand that process, but then how does he remember trees, doors, and flowers. Beats me.
I think instead of trying to beat David’s world record, I will use my imagination to focus on Jesus the Christ and His immeasurable love and forgiveness and grace. I will do all I can to remember Him.

Prayer

Lord, I will never forget how much You love me. Amen.
