Meat Loaf

Scripture reading

When one of those at the table with Him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”
–Luke 14:15

Thought of the Day

I walked on somewhat hallowed ground yesterday. The fam and I were in Memphis and we visited GRACELAND. In case you have lived a somewhat sheltered life or in a cave somewhere, GRACELAND is the home of the King, yes, Elvis. It is an amazing place. Things have not changed there since the late seventies when Elvis died. I must tell you that Elvis was a better singer than he was a decorator. Not exactly my style but who says that my taste is any better? I remember a story I read one time about Elvis. One night for dinner, his cook, made meat loaf. I guess that it was big time meat loaf because Elvis loved it. In fact, he loved it so much that he had his cook fix it the next night too. He loved it so much that he had the cook fix it the next night also, and then the next, and then the next. After thirty days of meat loaf, Elvis finally decided that he had enough of that great meat loaf. Now I am a big lover of meat loaf. (That doesn’t surprise you does it?) Even though I love meat loaf, I’m not sure I could eat it thirty days in a row. I wonder however if I could have enjoyed it if I was eating with Elvis each night. Maybe it wouldn’t have mattered.
I have the feeling that when we feast at the table with Christ Jesus that we won’t know or care what we are eating, it will be a feast because of whom we are with. I can’t wait for that feast.

Prayer

King of Kings, Feed me at Your most awesome table. Amen.
