Mark Twain’s Dog

Scripture reading

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
–John 3:16

Thought of the Day

Mark Twain was once asked his thoughts about heaven and if he thought there were conditions and requirements for entering into the kingdom. This is what he said. “If heaven was based on merit and loyalty, then my dog would get in.”
Mr. Twain had figured it out I think. He knew that it is not what we do that gets us into heaven, but instead, who we are as children of God. It is our belief in Christ Jesus. I love the saying that God loves us not because of who we are, but because of who He is. Never forget that fact.

God, Thank you for the gift of Your Son. Amen
