Love

Scripture reading

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God and God in them.

–1 John 4:16

Thought of the Day

I am sorry that I was off line the end of last week. Things were kind of crazy. My brother-in-law’s mother died on Thursday. Since Jim was with Sue-Bee all week, my father and I went to Jackson, MS to pick up my niece from college on Thursday. Since it is an eight-hour drive we left late on Wednesday night to get a jump on things. Thursday we got to Jackson and after loading Jordan up, we left around 4:00 pm to come home. We got home around 1:00 am. Friday, I left around 7:30 to go to Cameron to check out some things for our summer workcamp there this summer. I got home around 7:00 pm and then on Saturday we drove to Tyler for Sue-Bee’s funeral. After we got home that night I realized I had been in the car for thirty-one of my last seventy-two hours. I was somewhat tired.
As I reflect back on the week, I realized that all my travels had been most important. I went to pick up Jordan because I love her and she needed to get home. I went to Cameron because I love workcamp and there was work to be done to make it happen. I went to Tyler because I love my sister and brother-in-law and all their family.
Sue-Bee’s funeral was most special. Those who spoke all knew her very well. They spoke of her love and how she lived that love everyday of her eighty-four years here on this earth. They also talked about how she lived in God and God certainly lived in her. Our scripture for today could have been written about Sue-Bee. She will be missed greatly, but the memories and evidence of her love will be around forever. Reminds me of someone else I know. Jesus the Christ.

Prayer

Father, Teach me to love as Sue-bee loved. Amen.
