Love, Sweet Love

Scripture Reading

The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.

Matthew 11:5 (NIV)

Thought of the Day

Hard to believe that July has come and gone. Where has the time gone?  I hope you and yours are doing well. Continue to be careful out there and please continue to wear masks. It makes a difference.

Way back in 1965, Hal David and Burt Bacharach penned the great song, WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS LOVE (sweet love). It is a beautiful song. In the mid-sixties, there were problems in the United States and in the world. The Vietnam War was raging. President John Kennedy had been assassinated. The Cold War with the Soviet Union was ever present. There was unrest in the streets. The world was in need of love. Today we are still in serious need of love, sweet love.

I love this quote. No one is quite sure who said it or wrote it, but the thinking is that a New York writer named Christian Nestell Bovee first came up with it. Whoever penned it, Great Job!!

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love, and kindness. Let it begin with you.

Prayer

Lord, help me to show loving kindness to all I come in contact with, in my daily life. Help me to share the Good News to others. Amen.
