Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:7-8
Thought of the Day
Did you ever hear the little joke about the guy who happened to be standing in line at the Pearly Gates in Heaven waiting to meet God and enter the Kingdom when he noticed that Mother Theresa of the Sisters of Calcutta was standing in front of him? He was most excited to be able to walk through those gates with her. This guy was a youth director who had served God well over the years. As he got to the front of the line to meet God to his dismay he heard God say, “Terry, I really was expecting a little more from you”.
Besides not being very funny, this joke is not very theological, if at all. I am pretty sure that is not how it happens up in heaven.
Yesterday I was reminded of one of the great things that Mother Theresa said before she died.
“It is not how much you do; it is how much love you put into what you are doing.”
Amazing words, aren’t they? We all ought to print them out and tape them to our mirror, or refrigerator, or somewhere important to us. Or I guess we could just remember them in our hearts.
Prayer
Lord, Help me to love and live better. Amen.
