Scripture reading
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
–1 John 1:7
Thought of the Day
My daughter just left for college and we went on many shopping trips trying to get everything she needed or at least things she thought she needed. Today we went shopping for a few more things and we stopped at the poster rack to find something for her walls. There was a poster that was filled with great quotes. I wrote down this Chinese Proverb to share with you. It said:
“The miracle is not to fly in the air or to walk on water, but to walk on the earth.”
Now I am not sure of what deep philosophical meaning the old Chinese sage had in mind. I am pretty sure that we swim in different deep thinking pools. I am in the shallow end for sure. I do know what jumped out to me when I read it. To me, it means that we should never discount our role here on earth. We don’t have to be the smartest or strongest or prettiest or whateverest in order to make a difference in our world. Maybe sometimes it is good enough to just walk instead of those other things, especially if we always try to walk in the light. If we walk in the light we can be a miracle to others. So go and be a miracle to someone this week.
Prayer
Lord, I want to walk with You. Help me to do so. Amen.
