Be still, and know that I am God.
Thought of the Day
Brennan Manning wrote a great little book, called Lion and Lamb; The Relentless Tenderness of Jesus. In it, he writes about the overwhelming importance of “knowing God”. He makes the clear distinction of the difference in knowing God and knowing about God. The key is to have “experiential knowledge” of God in our lives. Mr. Manning tells us that the way to do that is through prayer. He writes that the most important thing that ever happens in prayer is to let ourselves be loved by God. He imagined it to be like slipping into a tub of hot water and letting God’s love wash over us, enfold us.
I love that image of God’s love surrounding us and washing us. How about you? Are you in need of a bath? Go to God in prayer.
Father, I want to know you. Amen.
