Scripture reading
But Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
–1 Timothy 6:6-8
Thought of the Day
Eddie Rickenbacker, the great World War I fighter pilot, once spent twenty-one days afloat on a life raft in the South Pacific hopelessly lost. After being rescued he was asked what the ordeal had taught him. He said, “The biggest lesson I learned from that experience was that if you have all the fresh water you want to drink and all the food you want to eat, you ought never to complain about anything.”
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I take for granted so many things. I get caught up in my “stuff” and lose my focus on things that are important. We all need to remember that we live in great abundance. We all need to remember that true blessings come from our relationship with God, not from all the stuff that we have.
Prayer
Almighty God, You bless me with Your love. Amen.
