Leap of Faith

Scripture reading

Early in the morning they led for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in His prophets and you will be successful.

–2 Chronicles 20:20

Thought of the Day

Two hundred and five years ago on this date, it was a great day for a guy named Andre-Jacques Garnerin. Actually it was a good and bad day for Andre. He was a hot air balloonist that traveled around from town to town, showing the people how he could rise into the air. On October 22, 1797 his flight started off great but quickly went downhill. (So to speak.) As his hot air balloon rose into the sky, all of a sudden, it exploded. Luckily for Andre, he had planned ahead for such a catastrophe. He grabbed a homemade parachute, which consisted of a large section of cloth, and actually made it to the ground in one piece. By doing this feat he became the first ever sky diver. I guess he had a lot of faith in that simple piece of fabric.
I think I will stick with having faith in the Lord my God to be upheld. What about you?
