“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Thought of the Day
I’m not planning on it any time soon, but when I “retire” from youth ministry, I know what I am going to do. I want to become an inspector for La-Z-Boy. There was an article in the paper last week about the twenty-five inspectors at the La-Z-Boy factory in Dayton, Tennessee. Each day, they come to work, ease into a recliner and kick up their feet. What a job! For eight hours they “test” recliners, love seats, and sofa sectionals. Can you imagine getting paid to sit down, prop up your legs and rock back and forth all day? I wonder what these guys do when they get home each day. Do you think they are well rested from their hard day at work?
Does it sound tempting? That kind of rest is OK, I guess, but the rest that Christ Jesus promises us is the kind of rest that I want. How about you? Are you feeling weary and burdened? Let Christ give you some help.
Father, I am weary. Give me rest. Amen.
