Karaoke Monks

Scripture reading

Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.
–Ephesians 5:17-19

Thought of the Day

Journalism experts know that headlines are important to draw the reader’s interest to their stories. So you can imagine that I was hooked and just had to read on when I read the following banner on a story. “2 monks suspected of karaoke bender”. It was a story out of Bangkok, Thailand. It seemed that two Buddhist monks were suspected of ignoring their vows by belting down drinks and belting out tunes at a local karaoke bar. According to police, bar employees said the monks, disguised in wigs and hats, had been there several times, drinking and singing karaoke. Now I don’t know what these two wild and crazy guys were drinking or what tunes they were singing, but maybe, just maybe, they needed to borrow a Bible and read our scripture for today. So I just have to ask. Do you need to borrow a Bible today?

Prayer

Lord of all, Help me discern Your will for me. Amen.
