Scripture reading
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us…
–Micah 7:18-19a
Thought of the Day
Bob Hoover was a famous test pilot and performer at air shows. Towards the end of one show in San Diego, both engines of his World War II propeller plane suddenly stopped. With skill and a lot of luck, he was able to make an emergency landing. As he suspected, the plane had been serviced and filled with jet fuel, instead of gasoline. Mr. Hoover immediately asked to see the mechanic who had made the mistake and almost caused a tragedy. As you can imagine, the mechanic was horrified at meeting with Hoover. Expecting anger, he was surprised by what Bob Hoover did and said. Hoover instantly put his arm around the mechanic and said that he knew that it was a mistake and that he wanted the mechanic to service his plane tomorrow because he knew that he would never make that mistake again.
Isn’t it great that we have a God who is just like that? We have a God, in Jesus Christ, who puts His arm around us when we make mistakes and forgives us and allows us another chance, and another, and another.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Thank you for being a God of many chances. Amen.
