Scripture reading
I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
–Psalm 18:1-2
Thought of the Day
There is a story about a little boy who got lost while hiking with his family in the mountains. Darkness was coming, so the boy found a rock to climb on to stay for the night. The night was cold and the little boy was filled with fear. The next morning, his frantic parents found him still holding tight to that rock. Later on his father asked him how it was being cold and scared. “You must have shivered and trembled all night long,” he said. The little boy nodded his head and said, “I did, but the rock didn’t.” You see, that rock was his fortress and his refuge. It was his shield and his stronghold.
So the next time you are cold and scared or lost or lonely, remember the words from Psalm 18. Let these words comfort you. Let your rock comfort you. Jesus is your rock.
Prayer
Lord, You are my strength. Amen.
