Interrupted by God

Scripture reading

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it, “ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

–Isaiah 30:21

Thought of the Day

In his book, Life Together Dietrich Bonhoffer wrote about how we are called to live together as a family of faith in close communion with God. The book was about a time he lived in such a community with fellow seminarians in Germany. They prayed together, ate meals together, worked together, sang hymns together, and studied the Bible together. He described this time as one where he felt very aware of God’s plan and desires for his children. He wrote, “We must be ready to allow ourselves to be interrupted by God.”
Those are great words, I think. Too often we find ourselves too busy to focus on God. We get too busy to hear His voice, and too busy to see those things we need to see. We need to be interrupted. So you have permission. Allow yourself to be interrupted by God. It won’t be a waste of time, I assure you.

Lord, Never let me get too busy for You. Amen.
