Scripture reading
This I command you, that you love one another.
–John 15:17
Thought of the Day
How are you with forgiveness? It is something that I think we all could probably work on to be better at it. I learn best from others I think. Martin Luther King, Jr. was amazing at forgiving others. It seems almost impossible to do what he was able to do and forgive those who wronged him in so many ways. In his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”, Dr. King wrote some great words about love and how he was able to forgive others. These are some words that he wrote on the margins of newspapers and on toilet paper and that were smuggled out of his jail cell by family and friends.
“We love men not because we like them, nor because their ways appeal to us, not even because they possess some kind of divine spark. We love every man because God loves him.”
How did Dr. King love and forgive others? He did it with God. That’s how we can do it too.
Prayer
Lord, Help me to see others as You see them. Amen.
