Scripture reading
Yet, O Lord, You are our Father. We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand.
–Isaiah 64:8
Thought of the Day
Adelaide Pollard was once in a great difficulty. Even though she prayed for God’s guidance in this matter, she rebelled against the obvious decision she should make. Some friends encouraged her to attend a prayer meeting. The music did nothing for her, nor did the message. It wasn’t until the closing prayer that Adelaide heard something that opened her eyes to her problem. The person saying the prayer said these words that grabbed her; “Lord, it doesn’t matter what you bring into our lives, just have your own way with us”.
Adelaide heard those words and kept saying them over and over in her mind. When she got home she wrote this old gospel hymn:
Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way!
Thou are the potter, I am the clay!
Mold me and make me, after thy will.
While I am waiting, Yielded and still.
Great words even if they are a little old English. I think you can get the point though. I did. Next time I am struggling with something, I am going to remember Adelaide’s and Isaiah’s words. Maybe you ought to, too.
Prayer
Lord, it doesn’t matter what You bring into our lives, just have Your Own way with us.
