God Knows Us

Scripture Reading

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart.

Jeremiah 1:5

Thought of the Day

I did not come up with this, but many have commented that the past five months or so have seemed like the movie, Groundhog Day. If you have not seen it, you ought to check it out. It is kind of sweet. It is the story of a man named Phil, who found himself stuck in a cycle of re-living one particular day in his life over and over and over. The main focus of the plot is the relationship that develops with Phil, and a news reporter named Rita. It started a little rocky but got better and better and they began to fall in love.

Towards the end of the movie, there is a great scene when they are walking through a park in the snow and ice. Phil stopped and made an ice sculpture of Rita’s face. When Phil unveiled his masterpiece, it was breathtaking. It was beautiful. When Rita commented on how much it looked like her, Phil replied, “I know your face so well, I could have done it with my eyes closed.”

Guess what?  We have a God who could have done the very same thing. We have a God in Jesus Christ who knows you so well that He could sculpt your face with His eyes closed. He knows you. He loves you. You are His. He knew you when you were in the womb. He knows you. Never ever forget this the next time you feel lost and alone. You are not.

Prayer

Father God, Thank You for knowing me better than I know myself. Let me do all I can to know you too. I know that You love me. Amen.
