Funeral

Scripture reading

Let not your heart be troubled, Trust in God, trust also in Me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am.
–John 14:1-4

Thought of the Day

I spoke at a funeral today of one of our college students at our church. Her name was Julie. I read these comforting words from John to the congregation. I talked about how everyone there is connected to her because she will always be a part of our lives. I closed my remarks by reminding everyone the following things. Pretty good things for you to remember, too, I think.

We have a God who loves us.

We have a God who picks us up when we stumble.

We have a God who dries our tears when we cry.

We have a God who wraps His loving arms around us and holds us tight, when we have questions when sometimes there are no answers.

We have a God who loves us. Never ever forget that.

Prayer

Thank you for being a God who loves us. Amen.
