Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Thought of the Day
There is a story about John Wesley, the founder of Methodism about a time he was working in his garden. A neighbor came by and in trying to engage Mr. Wesley in conversation, asked him what he would do if he knew for certain that Jesus would be returning that very day. Mr. Wesley quickly replied that he would be doing exactly what he was doing, working in his garden.
I don’t know if I would be able to keep doing whatever I was doing, if I know that Christ was coming that day. I do know that if I fix my eyes upon Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, that I could have that confidence that John Wesley must have had.
I have a plan. Just in case He returns today, why don’t you fix your eyes on Jesus the Christ. If He does come, you have it made. If not, you will have a better day.
Lord, I love you. Amen.
