Fill My Cup, Lord

Scripture reading

“But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

–John 4:14

Thought of the Day

Richard Blanchard was a preacher in Florida and had a young couple scheduled for an appointment and the couple did not show. Somewhat put off by this, Reverend Blanchard went into a near by classroom at his church and sat down at a piano to release some steam. He later said something great. This is what he said.

“When I was not in the mood to be used of God, God was in a mood to use me.”

In the thirty minutes or so that Reverend sat at the piano, God did use him in an amazing way. He gave him the words of one of the great hymns of the church. It is “Fill My Cup, Lord”. Here are some of the words.

Like the woman at the well I was seeking.
For things that could not satisfy:
And then I heard my Savior speaking:
“Draw from my well that never shall run dry”.

Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up, Lord!
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul;
Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole!

These are great words of faith. As we anticipate the birth of the Christ Child, let us all go to God and lift up our cup and ask Him to fill it.

Prayer

Lord, Fill my cup. Amen.
