Easter Lilies

Scripture reading

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will be changed, in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
–1 Corinthians 15:51-52

Thought of the Day

I like Easter Lilies. I like sitting in the sanctuary on Easter Morning and seeing so many of them around the chancel and altar. They remind me of spring and newness and new growth. I always love the week after Easter, because Sherman and the guys take the lilies from the sanctuary and plant them around the church. I can look out my window and see them. It is awesome. Do you know why we use the lily at Easter? Tradition has it that the lily is the floral symbol of Eater because its shape resembles a trumpet that heralds the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So the next time you see a lily, listen for the trumpet call and you will be changed.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Let me listen for Your call. Amen.
