Scripture reading
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith– and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no one can boast.
–Ephesians 2:8-9
Thought of the Day
A couple of weeks ago my daughter, Kelly and I went out for breakfast. We went to Cracker Barrel- Half Restaurant, Half Store. All Country. It was pretty good. While we were waiting for our food at Cracker Barrel- Half Restaurant, Half Store. All Country, I began to read my free complimentary copy of SUMMER IN AMERICA, published by, you guessed it, Cracker Barrel- Half Restaurant, Half Store. All Country. (By the way, every time I mention Cracker Barrel- Half Restaurant, Half Store. All Country. I get paid 2.5 cents) Kelly was playing the golf tee triangle game. She was pretty good at it; except for that disastrous time she left twelve tees. I quickly taught her the old trick of when you see that things are going bad; you “accidentally” knock it on the floor. It works with the triangle game, checkers, chess, etc.. Anyway, back to SUMMER IN AMERICA by Cracker…(OK. OK, I quit. It is not worth the 2.5 cents) The book was filled with interesting facts and ads for things you could buy in the store on the way out. I know you know the old saying, “It’s not the heat. It’s the humidity.” Did you also know that if it’s 100 degrees outside with 100% humidity, then it’s going to feel like it’s 195 degrees?
Wow! That is pretty hot. You know, I don’t know if Paul knew it’s not the heat, but the humidity, but he did know that it is not works, but grace and faith, by which we are saved. Remember both these facts. It might keep you cooler, now, and in the long run.
Prayer
Father, Thank you for Your Grace. Amen.
