Compassion

Thought of the Day

 Scripture Reading

So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.

 Thought of the Day

This week is “clean out the file” week.  I must admit that for a pretty unorganized guy, I am pretty organized.  If you know me, you quickly figure out that clutter does not bother me.  You can also throw in chaos, loud music, juggling too many balls in the air at once, and working with youth.  I can be surrounded by messiness and crazy stuff around me and somehow know where stuff is when I need it.  Now there are exceptions to this of course.  Sometimes I just flat out lose stuff.  But most of time, I eventually find it.  The file I am cleaning out is one such item.  It was lost, but now is found.  (I realize that that statement is more meaningful and powerful when it is in the Bible, but I think you get the point.)

This file folder I found was full of clippings and quotes and things that grabbed me at one time or another.  So today, I want to share a couple of these quotes with you.  They are great.  The first is from the Dalai Lama.

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.

If you want to be happy, practice compassion.

The second quote is by the Reverend Erwin W. Lutzer who is senior pastor of the MoodyChurch in Chicago

Christianity demands a level of caring that transcends

human inclinations.

I am pretty sure that there is nothing I could add that would enhance your understanding of these two amazing quotes.  So I won’t.

 Prayer

Lord, I can do all things through You.  Amen.
