Thought of the Day
Charles Allen was one of the great ministers of Methodism, serving First UMC in Houston for many years. In a book of collections of his writings, was the following story. It was about a statue of the Greek god, Apollo that was exhibited in a gallery in Europe. The statue shows Apollo, a beautiful example of physical perfection standing in great grandeur. They say it is interesting to see the crowds as they walk by the statue. When they see it, they invariably begin to straighten up. When they see that statue standing straight and tall, they subconsciously want to be like it.
Dr. Allen goes on of course and reminds us that this is the motive of us Christians. We see Christ and we want to be like Him. We see Him and we want to do as He did.
Prayer
Lord, Help me to be like You in all that I do. Amen.
