Baby Elephant

Scripture reading

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
–Matthew 5:6

Thought of the Day

I was watching the national news last night and saw a segment on a new baby elephant that was born in November at the Seattle Zoo. It was pretty interesting. They talked about how the crowds have increased since it was born. They also talked about what else has grown. Did you know that a baby elephant weighs about two hundred pounds when born? This baby elephant doubled its weight by two months. (By the way, that is what they are calling it so far. Baby Elephant. I wonder how they came up with that creative name?) It will weigh one thousand pounds by the time it is a year old. The elephant
handler said that in order for her to gain that much weight her first year, that she would pretty much have to be thinking about eating most of the time. For some of us, thinking about eating that much may not be hard to imagine. How about hungering for righteousness? Think about it.

Prayer

Father, You fill us with your love. Amen.
