Scripture reading
It is the Lord your God you must follow, and Him you must revere. Keep His commands and obey Him; serve Him and hold fast to Him.
–Deuteronomy 13:4
Thought of the Day
A survey in USA TODAY a couple of years ago, asked Americans, if given the opportunity, what question would they ask God. Thirty-four percent of those surveyed said that they would ask God, “Why am I here on earth?” That was the number one question. Second was about life after death. Third was why bad things happen. Next was a question about intelligent life elsewhere. (It didn’t say if they wondered about intelligent life here on earth.) Rounding out the top five was a question concerning the length of their own life.
Pretty good questions, I guess. I wonder though if we asked God why we are here on earth if He would ask us the same thing? I wonder if He would ask us, if we had read our scripture for today? You know, if we follow Him, and revere Him, and obey Him, serve Him, and hold fast to Him; I bet we might begin to better understand our purpose in life. We might better know why we are here.
Prayer
God, Help me to trust in You for You are the answer. Amen.
