Twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, a short devotional will be sent to you. It begins with a scripture, followed by a short story or thought, and ends with a simple prayer. Its purpose is to provide a little something for you to think about that day. A little something that lifts up God's Word and His ever presence in our world.

  Scripture Reading
As He looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. "I tell you the truth, " He said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on." Luke 21:1-4

Thought of the Day
On his visit to the United States in October of 1995, Pope John Paul II said something you need to hear. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm sure that he says all kinds of things that you need to hear, this is just one sentence that I recently read about that really grabbed me. See if it grabs you. "Nobody is so poor that he has nothing to give, and nobody is so rich that he has nothing to receive." Pretty smart guy, huh? Sometimes we think that we are "poor", and that we have nothing we can give. Sometimes we think that we are so "rich" that we need nothing. The right answer, Regis, is that when we think those things, we are wrong. Wouldn't it be great if we each did all we could do to remind ourselves and others to both give and receive freely? Knowing Jesus the Christ makes it easier to do so. So the final answer is to do all you can to give of yourselves to others and to God, and reach out to fully receive God's loving grace.

Prayer
Father, Let me never forget to share with others and to be humble enough to equally receive. Amen.
